Ella and I connected many, many moons ago on Twitter. I’m pleased to introduce her as my first featured Virtual Assistant and want to thank her for being my guinea pig. As of this writing Ella’s firm is taking new clients.
Ella Pelayo with The Office Escape
How Did You Get Started?
I discovered the VA Industry by accident late 2006. I resigned from a managerial position from one of the leading call centers here in the Philippines because I felt that being a full time mom should be my utmost priority. So our family moved out of the city and back to our small hometown here in Aklan.
As soon as we got the internet connection set up, I started looking for an online work. I found a client via Craigslist.org who hired me to work with him and help him find dates every weekend. The payout is only $150 per month. He was the one who told me that I was “over qualified” for the post and I should start looking for virtual assistant jobs. He told me to start with odesk.com and that was how my virtual assistant career started.
